Özet:

The Purpose of the Study: With James Watts invention of the steam engine in 1765, the Industrial Revolution took place, and the concept of technology became integrated into daily life. In recent years, rapid advancements in technology have facilitated the parallel development of information and communication technologies. Computer systems have become more sophisticated with significant developments in the software industry, giving rise to concepts such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and the metaverse. The concept of the Metaverse, which first emerged as a concept in the 1980s, has seen rapid development in the 2000s and beyond. The purpose of this study is to identify the themes through which Metaverse studies are conducted in national academic publications and to determine the academic approach to the subject. ConceptualTheoretical Framework: Examining the relationship between architecture and the metaverse under current international signals and scenarios is essential for identifying potential change scenarios in the near future within the context of Turkeys conditions. Therefore, it is important to analyze the information, approaches, levels, and contents related to the architecture-metaverse relationship in a neutral and reliable scientific environment. For this reason, national academic publications have been used as research material, and the themes and contents related to the metaverse-architecture relationship have been evaluated. Method: The method employed in this study is content analysis, focusing on the repeated words within the texts of metaverse publications, the frequency of these words, emphasized themes in the texts, and keywords indicating these themes. Findings: It was observed that in the examined academic publications, the most recurring themes were technology, education, and architecture, followed by augmented reality, and simulation themes. These findings indicate that the metaverse will become an integral part of our lives in the near future without completely disconnecting from the physical world. Conclusion: This new virtual universe, which is likely to completely transform all aspects of our lives, is predicted to become a new business model for architects and the architecture sector in the near future. Throughout the research process, the concept of the metaverse was found to be present in various themes within different disciplines, signaling significant changes for many professional fields in the near future.
