Özet:

This study examines the historical development and significance of percussion instruments in Turkish religious music. Instruments such as the kudüm, bendir, and nevbe played a central role in religious rituals, particularly during dhikr and semâ ceremonies in the Ottoman and Seljuk periods. These instruments not only maintained rhythmic order but also contributed to the symbolic and spiritual dimensions of religious performances. The research explores the structural features of these instruments, their performance techniques, and their contribution to the rhythmic framework of religious music. The study also investigates the historical evolution of these instruments and their integration into various religious music forms over time. In the modern era, instruments from different origins, such as the darbuka, cajon, and conga, have been incorporated into religious music, reflecting the influence of technology and globalization. The findings suggest that percussion instruments in Turkish religious music fulfill both rhythmic and spiritual functions, shaping the atmosphere of religious rituals. Additionally, the evolution of these instruments over time reflects their continued significance in religious music performances. This study aims to contribute to an understanding of the role of percussion instruments in Turkish religious music.
