Özet:

This study explores Ken Loachs Sorry We Missed You 2019 from the perspective of emotional and affective labour. In this film, in which Loach explores the effects of neoliberal capitalism on the workforce, characters are subjected to the commodification of not only physical but also emotional and cognitive labour. Emphasised in Hardt and Negris Empire and Multitude, the film discusses how the new modes of production under capitalism exploit not only the physical labour of workers but also their emotional worlds. In Sorry We Missed You, through the lives of Ricky and Abby, the ways in which the neoliberal system exploits workers and families, and the effects of job insecurity and low-paid jobs on human life are discussed in depth. While Ricky, as a delivery driver, experiences the emotional and physical pressures at work under the promises of freedom, Abby, as a carer, is forced to perform affective labour. The burnout caused by this affective labour at work and in private life shapes both the individual and social identities of the characters. The film deals with the commodification of emotional and affective labour and the destructive impact of the neoliberal economic order on relationships within the family. This study combines these themes in the film with critiques by theorists such as Hardt, Negri and Lazzarato to discuss the growing importance of affective labour in capitalist society and the role it plays in the construction of individual and social meanings.

Bu çalışma, Ken Loachun Sorry We Missed You 2019 filmini, duygusal ve duygulanımsal emek perspektifinden incelemektedir.
