Özet:

Turks have used various alphabets throughout history. Among these is the Arabic alphabet which was used for the longest period of time and most commonly. This alphabet is based on consonants. On the contrary, Turkish is a language with a variety of vowels. In this respect, there appeared some problems related to the representation of the orthography of Turkish with the Arabic alphabet. With the help of some works written with vowel points in the period of Old Anatolian Turkish, it is possible to determine the orthography of the period to some extent. However, due to the orthography’s becoming a tradition and abandoning the vowel point system starting from the 16th century, accepted as the beginning of the Classical Ottoman Turkish Period, it became difficult to follow orthographic characteristics in the texts written in this period. Transcribed texts and, even a little, texts written with vowel points help us overcome this difficulty. The Pictorial Iranian Book of Embassy can be shown among these works. The work, written by Bozoklu Osman Şakir in 1811 AD, is worth examining in that both it was written with vowel point system and the author of which drew attention to its inscription and orthography. In this study, we aimed to contribute to the determination of the development of the Ottoman Turkish in terms of orthography in the 19th century by publishing the text of this work, the orthographic characteristics of which we tried to determine through an article before.
