Özet:

Studying the forms of theatrical texts adapted to cinema both makes the relationship of theater and literature with cinema visible and decrees the differences between these two fields. These differences naturally often require the adaptation to undergo some changes compared to the original work. One of the building elements most affected by these changes is the characters This situation has a structure that exists many times in Turish Literature. In 1983, the theater play Bir Şehnaz Oyun, written by Turgut Özakman, was adapted as a motion picture under the name Şekerpare with the screenplay by Yavuz Turgul at the same time. As a result of the adaptation, many changes have emerged both structurally, technically and characteristically, especially within the framework of the characters. In this study, a comparative examination was made between the individual cast of the play Bir Şehnaz Oyun, which is a theatrical narrative, and the film Şekerpare, which is a cinematic fiction. the reasons for the changes observed to be reflected in the characters during the transfer of the original work to the motion picture have been analyzed in accordance with the requirements of both forms.
