Özet:

Sustainable aviation is a long-term approach aimed at shaping the future of the aviation industry in a cleaner, quieter, and smarter direction. Key issues in the aviation industrys transition towards sustainability include reducing the impacts of climate change, limiting the contribution of aircraft carbon emissions to global warming, minimizing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing noise pollution, improving air quality, conserving natural resources, managing waste, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and developing environmentally friendly energy technologies. This research aims to explain the significance of sustainability in the aviation industry and to examine the strategies developed in this direction, using Turkish Airlines as a case study. The sustainability policies of Turkish Airlines were analyzed based on data from 2018 to 2022. The study employed qualitative research methods, including document analysis and a case study model. During the examined period, Turkish Airlines implemented a series of sustainability policies aimed at addressing environmental, social, and governance issues, increased its overall sustainability score, and made advancements in areas such as fleet renewal, training, social security, and contributions to the national economy. In areas where progress. was not made, the existing situation was preserved, offering a fresh perspective to the national aviation sector.
