Özet:

Although political geography was first used as a concept by the German geographer Friedrich Ratzel in 1897, it remained in the shadow of the concept of geopolitics defined by his student Rudolf Kjellen in 1899. After this date, political geography, which was identified with the concept of geopolitics, maintained its importance until the 1980s with the periodic themes of classical and Cold War geopolitics serving the aims of the imperialcolonialist structure. However, in the post-1980s period, rather than the generalizing approach of the traditional period that ignores socio-spatial and cultural contexts, it has evolved into a context where it problematizes the given set-up by taking into account the reality that the geographical is political. At this point, network visualisation method has been used in this research, which aims to comparatively address the paradigmatic change and development of political geography on a global and Turkish scaleAs a result of the research, it was determined that academic studies in the field of political geography in Turkey have largely followed a course parallel to the classical and Cold War geopolitical discourse and lagged behind the critical political geography innovation trends emerging in the world.
