Özet:

This study examines claims that certain Qurānic verses support the belief in reincarnation and evaluates these assertions within the theological and contextual framework of the Qurān. Reincarnation, defined as the souls return to the world in a new body, fundamentally contradicts the Islamic understanding of the afterlife. Through linguistic and exegetical analysis, the study refutes these claims, focusing on verses such as al-Baqarah 2:28 and al-Muʾmin 40:11, which mention two deaths and two lives. Proponents interpret these phrases as evidence for reincarnation, but they more accurately describe the human cycle of creation, death, resurrection, and the afterlife. Other verses, like al-Inshiqāq 84:19, which speaks of a transition from stage to stage, and al-Rūm 30:40, emphasizing Allāhs omnipotence, are also misinterpreted. These references highlight stages of human existence and Allāhs control over life and resurrection, not repeated earthly lives. The Qurān consistently portrays human life as a singular opportunity that culminates in eternal accountability. This principle is clearly stated in al-Muʾminūn 23:99-100, which affirms that once a person dies, they cannot return to this world, reinforcing the finality of earthly life and the progression to the afterlife. The study critiques the interpretations offered by reincarnation proponents, arguing that their readings are often decontextualized and forced. These misinterpretations undermine the theological coherence of the Qurān, which emphasizes the singularity of human life and the definitive nature of the afterlife. For example, the two deaths and two lives mentioned in al-Muʾmin 40:11 and al-Inshiqāq 84:19 are better understood as references to the eschatological stages of existence, not as evidence for reincarnation. While reincarnation is present in various cultural and religious traditions, such as Hinduism and Jewish Kabbalah, it is incompatible with Islamic theology. Islam asserts that humans are created once and are held accountable for their actions in a single lifetime. The Qurān highlights Allāhs justice and omnipotence, emphasizing resurrection as an event that occurs exclusively in the hereafter. This research underscores the consistency and clarity of the Qurāns message, which leaves no room for reincarnation within Islamic doctrine. Arguments supporting reincarnation rely on misreadings that contradict the theological structure of the Qurān. The verse al-Muʾminūn 23:99-100 explicitly states that once a person dies, their opportunity to return to earthly life ceases, affirming the finality of human existence and resurrection. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the linguistic and contextual interpretations of the Qurānic verses do not support the concept of reincarnation. The Qurān presents human life as a single, unrepeatable journey that ends with resurrection and divine accountability. This clarity in the Qurāns teachings reinforces the incompatibility of reincarnation with Islamic theology, affirming the definitive and coherent nature of its message.
